I didn't think I was going to like this idea as much as I did. Not to mention the whole thing cost about $2.50 (tax and all!)
You will need:
2 bricks (bought mine at home depot in the gardening section for $0.54 a piece)
2 pieces of 12x12 scrapbook paper.
Lay your brick down on your paper, make sure the pattern you want is facing away from the brick. I choose a green pattern, not those polka dots.
That brown is part of the design of the paper....
Once that dries move on to the first end of the brick. Cut the paper lining up with all 4 corners of the brick. Then measure it, you may find you need to cut a little off the length of the paper, so that it's not folding back on itself.
That in the middle is just where the two sides of the paper met, I did not cut that.
Fold the "back" (where you glued the paper already) down first. Then the two sides.
Trim as you go if needed. And try to avoid judging eyes watching you, no one is perfect and my cat should learn that....
While it dried I stood it on end to have weight on it. Once dry, repeat the other side and you are done!
They work and look great, and were super cheap. Not to mention if you get tired of them you can change the paper out and have a whole new look. And Moms, do your kids have bookshelves? You could have them color their own paper and make bookends from their very own works of art! .
